Western Sydney University is providing peace of mind for HSC school leavers through its highly-successful early offer program, HSC True Reward, with applications for 2024 now open.
First launched in 2017, HSC True Reward recognises that HSC students are much more than their scaled ATAR, with a student’s subject performance – which best reflect a student’s strengths and areas of interest – recognised as a robust indicator of future success at university.
Western Sydney University takes careful steps not to undermine the importance of the HSC, with offers made on the condition that students successfully complete their HSC.
Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO, said the University’s early offer program helps alleviate pressure for students and their families, while providing transparency and safeguarding the integrity of the HSC.
Professor Glover, who is also Convener of the New South Wales Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (NSWVCC), the peak body for universities in NSW and the ACT, said HSC True Reward follows the sector-leading principles developed by the NSWVCC to guide early offer admissions in 2024.
“Western Sydney University is committed to ensuring that all students who are hard working and capable have the opportunity to go to university, and most importantly, are well-supported to succeed,” said Professor Glover.
“We know that students who have performed well in their HSC subjects will succeed if they are enrolled in a degree that is right for them and aligns with their strengths and areas of interest.
“Innovative early offer programs like HSC True Reward opens up opportunity for school leavers and supports more students on the pathway to university and towards fulfilling their career ambitions.”

Adam Seymonsbergen from Kingswood is one of the talented students now pursuing their passions thanks to HSC True Reward. In 2021 he received an early offer to the Bachelor of Computer Science.
Adam, who attended Kingswood High School, did well in subjects he enjoyed including computing and maths but was unsure about his options to study at university. To further develop his skills while still at school, he undertook a Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology at TAFE NSW and explored early offer programs.
“The True Reward program allows people like me who are passionate about a particular area of study to follow their interests. I believe that computers can be used to solve a vast number of critical problems that the world currently faces, so I was ecstatic when I received the offer,” said Adam, who is now in his second year of his degree.
Western Sydney University will commence making conditional early offers to current Year 12 students who have applied through HSC True Reward on 14 September 2023, with further offer rounds throughout the remainder of the year.
