Under Victorian Law, all cats and dogs must be registered. If you own a cat or dog, it is your responsibility to ensure that you register them with Council. Pet registrations expire on April 10 this year. If you have not registered or renewed your registration or need to update your details, please complete the form below:

  • Why do I have to renew my pet registration?

    Owning a pet is a big responsibility. You need to make sure your pet is registered with us each Animal Registration period April 11 to April 10 each year.

    Registrations are only valid until April 10 each year meaning you need to renew your animal registration every year.

    All cats and dogs over the age of 3 months in Merri-bek must be registered with us. This is required under the ‘Domestic Animals Act 1994’. If you fail to renew your pet’s registration, you may get a fine.

    Renewal notices are emailed or posted in March if we don’t have your email address each year in March.

  • Why do I have to register my pet?

    Owning a pet is a big responsibility, as you need to make sure your pet is registered with us, desexed and microchipped.
