Police issued thirteen partygoers at Whyalla with expiation notices for breaching gathering restrictions yesterday morning.
Police received a tip-off about a large group of people drinking at a Whyalla house just before 11am on Thursday 16 April and attended the location.
Officers found a group of 13 adults drinking on the porch in the backyard of the house, in breach of the crowd gathering rules and also not complying with social distancing principles.
All thirteen people, including the two residents and eleven visitors, were issued with expiation notices for breaching the crowd gathering direction (gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited).
Police encourage the public to report suspected breaches of the self-isolation, crowd gathering or social distancing directions on the police assistance line 131 444.
As of 3.30pm on Thursday 16 April, police have issued 47 fines and 35 cautions.
Since the beginning of this health crisis, police have taken a conciliatory approach to enforcing restrictions and have been pleased with the positive response from the public.
Police have conducted thousands of checks on individuals and businesses across the State in recent weeks and are pleased to report that the overwhelming majority of South Australians are doing the right thing.
