Wide Bay Burnett gets Safer Roads Sooner

A significant safety boost to roads across Bundaberg, Gympie, Fraser Coast and North Burnett are are on their way. The Palaszczuk Government has committed more than $3.51 million under the Safer Roads Sooner program to address known safety concerns.

Safety upgrades in Wide Bay Burnett will include:

Bundaberg Region

  • $335,000 to install pedestrian crossing facilities at the intersections of Whittred and Bunda streets on Bundaberg – Bargara Road, Bundaberg East.

Gympie Region

  • $2.8 million to build a single-lane roundabout to improve safety at the Tin Can Bay Road and Bayside Road intersection, Tin Can Bay.

Maryborough Region

  • $162,000 to improve safety at the intersection of Maryborough – Biggenden Road (Alice Street) and Tooley Street, Maryborough.

North Burnett Region

  • $220,000 to improve pedestrian crossing facilities on the Burnett Highway (Capper Street), Gayndah.
