A photo depicting a striking lionfish has won the 2019 Seniors Card Through the Lens photographic competition.
Director of Office for Ageing Well, Cassie Mason, said entrant Ian Patterson was awarded this year’s top prize for his photo taken during a night dive off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
“Selected from over 700 entries, Ian’s photo will feature on the cover of the 2020 Seniors Card Discount Directory, available to members from December,” Ms Mason said.
“The exhibition celebrates the creativity and photographic talents of South Australia’s Seniors Card members, and serves as a reminder that it is never too late to start a new hobby or renew enthusiasm for an existing one.”
Office for Ageing Well Seniors Card Manager, Evlynn Hayes, said Through the Lens is an annual photographic competition for Seniors Card members, celebrating International Day of Older Persons and showcasing and celebrating the skills and creativity of older South Australians.
“The calibre of entries received as part of this year’s competition was truly inspiring and impressive, and I encourage all South Australians to visit the exhibition and view the great work that will be on display at the City Library in Rundle Mall until Wednesday 6 November,” Ms Hayes said.
“I would like to congratulate all finalists for their creative approach to this competition and the overall winner, Ian Patterson, for his incredible photo.

A panel of judges selected finalists and the winners in six categories were announced at an exclusive launch event today:
