An even better community green-space is one step closer, with construction works on stages one and two of Bong Bong Common Masterplan set to commence from Tuesday 21 March, 2023. It will be necessary to temporarily close both the car park and shared path located off Moss Vale Road, to public access, while we undertake work on the stage 1a carpark. Weather permitting, the works should be complete within three to four months.
“This is just the beginning of extensive improvements to a unique and special public space for our local community,” said Wingecarribee Shire Council Director Service and Project Delivery, Karin Targa.
“The Master Plan includes upgrades to open spaces for nature and interpretive play, playspaces with associated seating and picnic benches, provision of new formalised carparking that includes disability spaces, a new accessible amenities building and improved accessibility for all, plus circuit path with gathering points.”
Viewing platforms will provide improved connection with the Wingecarribee River frontage.
The project is jointly funded by the NSW Government, through the Arts and Culture Grant Program, Public Spaces Legacy Program, the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure grant program, and internal funding provided by Wingecarribee Shire Council.
During construction works, residents are encouraged to plan ahead for alternative access to the shared pathway, available from:
Suttor Road, Moss Vale;
- Phillip Street, Burradoo;
- Hurlingham Avenue, Burradoo; and
- Railway Road, Burradoo.
For convenience, access to the Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve will be made adjacent to the work site.
Please be mindful of heavy machinery within the work site and exercise extra care when visiting the area.
Council thanks visitors in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary inconvenience.
