Woman charged following investigation into shoplifting syndicate in south Sydney

A woman has been charged following an investigation into a shoplifting syndicate operating in Sydney’s south.

In December 2023, officers attached to Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad were contacted by a retail outlet regarding multiple shoplifting offences occurring at stores across Sydney.

Police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Following extensive inquiries, about 8:50am yesterday (Thursday 23 May 2024), officers executed a search warrant on a home on Catherine Street, Punchbowl and Brighton Le Sands.

During a search of the home officers allegedly located and seized items including clothing, toys, household and electrical goods with an estimated value of more than $70,000, cash and drugs.

A woman, aged 49, was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen and possess prohibited drug.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday 13 June 2024.

Investigations into the syndicate are ongoing.
