A woman has been charged with mid-range PCA after being caught allegedly speeding more than 40km/h above the speed limit on the M4 at Silverwater this morning.
Officers attached to Auburn Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement duties about 2.40am today (Friday 26 January 2024), when an eastbound hatchback was detected allegedly travelling at 137km/h in the sign-posted 90km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped and police spoke with the 31-year-old female driver.
When a roadside breath test proved positive, she was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station, where she underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.080.
The woman, from St Marys, has been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice (FCAN) for mid-range PCA and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on 27 February 2024.
The woman has also been issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h.
Her licence was immediately suspended.
The Australia Day long-weekend road safety campaign is continuing with a high-visibility proactive policing strategy in force targeting fatigue, speeding and drink and drug-affected drivers.
The road traffic safety campaign began Thursday (25 January 2024) and will run until 11.59pm Sunday (28 January 2024).
