Woman’s car seized during highway patrol operation, NSW

A woman, disqualified from driving until 2020, had her car seized after she was detected driving during a joint highway patrol operation in south-western Sydney.

On Tuesday 25 June 2019, officers attached to Strike Force Puma were engaged in a joint operation, with Cumberland Highway Patrol, targeting known disqualified drivers across the South West Metropolitan Region.

About 9:50am Puma officers were patrolling Smithfield when they observed a Silver Toyota Camry allegedly being driven by a target disqualified driver, who was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver licence until 2020.

Puma officers immediately intercepted the vehicle and arrested the 27-year-old female driver.

The woman was taken to Fairfield Police Station where she was charged with driving whilst disqualified – 2nd and subsequent offence – and refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court later that day.

Yesterday (Wednesday 26 June 2019), Strike Force Puma officers attended the 27-year-old’s home address where she was served with a vehicle confiscation notice.

Her vehicle was subsequently seized and impounded for a period of three months.
