Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced that work has commenced on major upgrades to Lynwood Senior High School in Perth’s southern suburbs.
EMCO Building has been appointed to construct the $25.3 million project, which will include a new classroom building, student services, performing and visual arts facilities and sports hall.
The new facilities were designed by With Architecture Studio and are expected to be completed mid-2023.
The project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan investing $492.2 million in upgrades and refurbishments at public schools across Western Australia.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“Lynwood Senior High School is 46 years old, so I’m sure staff, students and their families are excited about the new upgrades to their school.
“It’s a significant project for the school and students will enjoy a new performing arts centre and a modern sports hall for physical education activities.
“The McGowan Government is committed to investing in modernising public schools and creating local WA jobs.”
As stated by Cannington MLA Bill Johnston:
“The work the Lynwood school community has done with the McGowan Government to achieve this fantastic outcome is a credit to them.
“It’s great to see construction of these new high-quality facilities, which will enable Lynwood Senior High School and its staff to continue delivering fantastic results for students, getting under way.
