Construction is due to start on Collie’s new heated indoor community swimming pool by the end of the year.
The McGowan Government earmarked $2 million to the project as part of its 2017 election commitment.
The Shire of Collie has advertised the tender for the detailed design of the project and is aiming to award the construction contract in October, with construction anticipated to commence before the end of the year.
The pool will be a 16-metre by 10-metre heated swimming pool to be located at the Collie Mineworkers Memorial Pool site in Throssell Street.
The new pool will be built at the southern end of the existing 50 metre outdoor swimming pool.
It will be suitable for lap swimming and include an access ramp, integrated spa, and in-water seats for swimming lessons.
The project will also include an office, reception and meeting room, universal access toilets and change rooms.
The new pool is expected to be open to the public in late 2021.

“It will make the swimming pool complex a 12-month of the year operation, allowing for warm water access with health and wellbeing benefits for the Collie community and people of all ages including learn to swim activities, water awareness sessions for babies, rehabilitation, and water exercise opportunities.”
