The Andrews Labor Government is giving Ardmona families the educational facilities they deserve, with works now underway to revamp Ardmona Primary School.
Minister for Education James Merlino joined Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp today to turn the first sod on the $631,592 redevelopment of the Turnbull Road site, which will restore its original buildings and refurbish the interior.
The works were designed by 1:1 Architects and will see the school’s existing classrooms and staffroom undergo structural restoration and modernisation.
It will include a complete replacement of the entire roof structure, along with new floor finishes, doors to the flexible classroom, and wall and ceiling linings.
Damaged weather boards will be replaced, while a fresh coat of paint will brighten both indoor and external spaces.
Bowden Corp has been appointed to deliver the works, which are expected to be completed by July this year.
An additional $90,000 was previously allocated to refurbish the relocatable classroom block with the inclusion of quiet learning areas, designed by Di Mase Architects and constructed by BG & JK Douglas Builders.
The Labor Government has already invested more than $3.8 billion to deliver new schools and more than 1300 school upgrades, supporting more than 5000 construction jobs for Victorians.
