Council advises the community that work is scheduled for Springfield Rd, located between Dalgety and Nimmitabel, to begin Monday 25 July 2022, weather permitting.
Crews and machinery have are making their way to the site in preparation for the project getting underway.
This project will be delivered in two stages:
- Stage One: construction works on 1.7km of road – commencing from The Snowy River Way intersection up to the start of the existing sealed road. Estimated completion for this stage is approximately Friday 30 September 2022, weather permitting.
- Stage Two: work to be carried out on 2.3km commencing from the end of sealed section towards Snowy Mountains Highway, which will commence following the completion of Stage One.
Once the construction works are completed, the total sealed section of Springfield Road will be 4km longer than at present. Estimated completion date for the whole project is by late December 2022, weather permitting.
There will be changes in traffic conditions with reduced speeds and diversions as required.
While work is underway we ask that residents, local business and tourists observe changed traffic conditions and relevant signage. There may be delays to through traffic during this time, and Council thanks all road users for their patience and understanding during this time.
