WorkSafe’s advisory service is extending its hours of operation by two and a half hours a day.
From tomorrow the service will take calls Monday to Friday from 7.30am and 6.30pm.
WorkSafe’s advisory service staff answered more than 230,000 calls over the past 12 months and responded to more than 46,000 emails seeking information and advice.
Calls included 15,700 reports of incidents, 52,000 occupational health and safety inquiries, almost 77,000 inquiries relating to compensation and fraud and almost 67,000 licensing and information requests.
WorkSafe Advisory Director Kelly Harris said the extended hours were designed to make the service more responsive to the needs of Victorian employers and workers.
“We want to improve the service we offer the Victorian community, so this was an obvious but important step to take,” Ms Harris said.
“We’re also improving and streamlining our internal computer systems so we respond to more callers with better information more quickly than ever before.”
WorkSafe advisory can assist with reporting an incident, safety alerts, advice on how to create a safe workplace, laws and regulations, licenses, WorkCover insurance, lodging a claim, returning to work, WorkSafe providers and general information about WorkSafe.
