Corangamite business operators have an opportunity to learn how artificial intelligence can benefit them.
The free ‘Understanding the Basics of AI’ will be at the Terang Civic Hall from 10 am to 12 pm, Wednesday 21 February.
The workshop will be run by Tara Fry and Nat McGregor from the Social Connection—a contemporary media management company that connects businesses and audiences.
Participants will learn how to tap into this new age and use AI in small business.
They will also discover platforms such as ChatGPT and how they can work in the real world.
“AI is well and truly here and whether your end goal is to increase productivity or profitability, small businesses should at least have a basic understanding of the technology’s uses, advantages and equally, downsides,” Tara said.
“Let us teach you how AI can save your brand time and money, and when to steer clear,” Nat added.
Council Manager Economy and Prosperity Katy McMahon said artificial intelligence was no longer science fiction but is here and now.
“Technological change is taking off across all industries,” Ms McMahon said.
“It is in businesses’ best interests to build digital skills so they can connect with customers and provide responsive services that give them the edge over the competition.
“One of the key themes in the Great South Coast Regional Digital Strategy is to build capability and opportunities for a thriving and sustainable digital economy.
“This workshop is one of the ways Corangamite is encouraging digital innovation and improving skills in our community.”
A recent Forbes study found businesses increasingly use AI to attract business through product recommendations, manage customer relationships, inventory, logistics and recruitment, as well as for cybersecurity and fraud management.
