Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) will host an extraordinary auditory journey led by acclaimed educator, author, naturalist, and Australia’s foremost nature sound recordist, Andrew Skeoch. The event will take place on Tuesday 13th August, 6:00 – 8:00pm.
Skeoch’s mesmerising recordings have graced feature films, enchanted visitors at Sydney Wild Life Sydney Zoo, and enriched world-famous soundtracks, including Peter Gabriel’s Rabbit Proof Fence and Disney’s Jungle Book.
In his upcoming presentation at PACC, Skeoch will unlock the hidden beauty of birdsong through immersive recordings and spectrogram analysis. Participants will delve into the art of identifying species by ear, recognising unique behaviours, and forging deeper connections with the voices of nature.
Cessnock Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters expressed enthusiasm at hosting the esteemed sound recordist at PACC.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew Skeoch to Cessnock, and to have an artist of his calibre visit the area is incredibly exciting,” said Ms Walters.
“This event promises an enthralling and inspiring experience for attendees, showcasing Skeoch’s passion for nature and his ability to capture the essence of wild soundscapes.”
For over three decades, Skeoch has meticulously documented the soundscapes of wild environments across the globe. Through his renowned label, Listening Earth, he has released over a hundred albums featuring habitats from diverse continents, garnishing impressive streaming figures on platforms like Spotify.
In addition to his presentation, Skeoch will be autographing copies of his latest book, ‘Deep Listening to Nature’, which are available for purchase.
