Federal Member for Murray the Hon. Damian Drum MP today locally announced $4.7 million in federal funding for Wintringham to establish a new residential aged care facility (RACS) adjacent to their existing facility in Shepparton. Twenty federally funded residential aged care beds have also been allocated to the new development, which caters specifically for the disadvantaged elderly who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
“Investment in residential aged care that caters specifically for the disadvantaged has been needed in the Goulburn Valley region for some time, so it is fantastic to be able to deliver such significant funding in this area.” Mr Drum said.
“I congratulate the Wintringham on securing these new aged care places and I look forward to seeing the benefits of this funding flow to our community,” Mr Drum said.
Bryan Lipmann AM, CEO and Founder of Wintringham, says this service will help to provide a dignified option for these marginalised and isolated members of our society. “Wintringham is Australia’s pre-eminent provider of accommodation and support services to the elderly homeless. This new service will complement Wintringham’s existing services in the Shepparton region which include an extensive range of housing, housing support, outreach and CDC ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾Care services for elderly disadvantaged clients.”
“The new facility will be built on land made available by a generous $2 million grant from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), and will form part of a larger approximately $15 million development which will also include new independent living spaces.”
The build is the first RACS built by Wintringham outside a metropolitan area, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

The Morrison Government is boosting annual aged care investment by $5.5 billion, with annual funding to grow from $18.1 billion to $23.6 billion a year by 2022-23.
