Wyndham City Council is hoping to get the community’s feedback on Stage 2 of the Heritage Review.
The Wyndham Heritage Review represents an important opportunity to protect places of local heritage significance to strengthen the City’s unique character, and to celebrate the history of Wyndham with our community.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Peter Maynard, said that heritage provides us with important evidence as to how our community has evolved and developed over time.
“As a region with high growth, heritage is particularly important to Wyndham as a touchstone to the past and a key contributor to a strong sense of place in our communities,” said Cr Maynard,
“There are pressures on our special heritage places due to development and competing strategic objectives such as infrastructure provision and housing growth.”
“Council must manage these pressures on our historical places, to ensure that amenity and the character of areas is retained and protected ensuring that any development is sensitive to identified heritage places.”
Residents of Wyndham are invited to share their knowledge on the 87 individual Residential Places and seven Precincts which were identified in the Stage 1 Gap Study.
This information might include historical information, photos or plans, and will be used to inform the Stage 2 Study.
You can also provide feedback on Wyndham’s draft Thematic Environmental History.
