Wyndham’s Young Person Of Month 1 December

Wyndham City is proud to announce Ganika Shree as the One Wyndham recipient for December.

Ganika advocates for social justice, inclusion, quality education for all and is committed to the betterment of society. She is passionate about society providing equal education no matter your background or social status and her aim is to promote awareness of this important issue.

Ganika saw first-hand educational inequality in India and as a result lives by the mantra: “A more just world is not just a possibility; it is also an obligation, and it is up to you to put your beliefs into action for the welfare of all.”

To this end she aspires to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds and tutors in English and Maths.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Susan McIntyre said: “Ganika is inspirational, passionate and a positive role model for young people.”

“She approaches every opportunity with enthusiasm and strives for academic and personal growth in all she does whether that is singing, playing sport such as taekwondo and badminton, tutoring or volunteering.”

“She spends her time helping others; through raising funds for charity and volunteering.”

“Wyndham City thanks and appreciates the contribution Ganika has made and continues to make to our community.”

Ganika has achieved two gold and two silver state championship medals in Taekwondo.

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 and 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.

Winners are awarded a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
