Wyndham City is proud to announce Keerthana Karthik as the One Wyndham recipient for August.
Keerthana is dedicated to helping the community and helps others through volunteering, tutoring, fundraising, school activities and by encouraging young people to have a positive and ‘never give up’ mindset.
Each week she tutors students from low social economic backgrounds in the western suburbs.
Keerthana is passionate about performing arts and music, and enjoys teaching a performing arts class at the Blossom Community Care for people funded under the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Disability Insurance Scheme, inspiring and developing participants to build connections and confidence through dance and music, and live their best life.
Managing a chapter of HealthCove, a youth-led charity, Keerthana has organised many fundraising events in Wyndham to raise awareness of inequity in the public health system.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Susan McIntyre said: “Wyndham City thanks Keerthana for the positive contribution she has made and continues to make in our City.”
“Keerthana encourages young people to be positive and inspires hope through her volunteering and fundraising efforts.”
One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.
Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.
Winners are awarded a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
