Yarra City Council secures funding to upgrade facilities at local parks to make them more dog-friendly

Yarra City Council welcomes funding from the Victorian Government for the enhancement of local parks.

As part of the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, a total of $600,000 will be awarded to develop much-needed green open space for our community to exercise, relax or enjoy the outdoors with their dogs.

This funding will allow for significant improvements at two popular Yarra sites: Smith Reserve in Fitzroy and Quarries Park in Clifton Hill, with each location receiving $300,000.

The planned upgrades will include tree planting, new paths, and enhanced off-leash areas for dogs.

These projects will provide safe, engaging and accessible green spaces for residents and their canine companions to enjoy together.

“We are grateful for the Victorian Government’s funding, which allows Yarra to enhance our parks by providing residents with improved facilities for exercising, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors with their dogs,” said Yarra City Council Mayor, Edward Crossland.
