You can have your say on Darwin’s creative strategy

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is seeking the community’s input and ideas on our current arts programs and projects to inform the development of the city’s next Creative Strategy.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the Creative Strategy 2023-2030 would increase opportunities to make, engage in and enjoy creative work.

“Darwin has a thriving and innovative creative industry, and there are plenty of opportunities to provide more support to and drive growth in this sector,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“Public art is a focus of our current community and cultural program, as it builds upon our cultural heritage, diversity and sense of identity, and provides opportunities for our artists to contribute to the development of the city’s creativity and vibrancy.

“We are keen to hear the public’s views on what we are currently doing well and what changes we could make, and what your priorities are for future resource allocation.”

Once developed, Mr Vatskalis said City of Darwin’s new Creative Strategy would assist Council in continuing to elevate the local creative industry, leverage resources, and remain responsive to our city’s needs.

“The Creative Strategy will also improve the ways in which creatives engage with City of Darwin and will increase the visibility and viability of this sector,” Mr Vatskalis said.
