Young fishos gear up for Junior Angler Clinic

The Lawler Labor Government continues to support fishos in the Top End with around 100 juniors set to take part in the Palmerston Game Fishing Clubs Junior Angler Education Clinic next Saturday, 13 July 2024.
The Palmerston Game Fishing Club is celebrating 20 years of providing fishing opportunities to Territory anglers, hosting events that encourage everyone to drop a line, like the 2024 Buddy Boats Day in June, the upcoming Junior Angler Clinic as well as a fishing clinic for the Palmerston College Special Education group.
The Territory Government awarded the club nearly $40,000 in the 2023-24 grant round to support these events. Other recipients from the 2023-24 NT Recreational Fishing Grants include Darwin Game Fishing Club, OzFish Unlimited, City of Darwin, City of Palmerston, Council of the Ageing NT, the Katherine Game Fishing Club and DEC Installations. More than $300,000 in funding was awarded, supporting community fishing clinics, recreational fishing infrastructure, fishing waste management projects and more.
The next round of the $500,000 NT Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme will be awarded in the coming weeks. This program supports projects big and small that get even more people fishing.
Last month consultation opened on a new proposed fishing jetty at Dudley Point, East Point Reserve to provide safe land-based fishing opportunities for families, as well as deeper water over a greater tidal range for all fishers.
