Young boy critical after cliff fall, NSW

A young boy is in a critical condition after falling from a cliff face on the state’s South Coast yesterday.

Police have been told the 12-year-old boy was at Gerringong Falls in Budderoo ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park, off Jamberoo Mountain Road, and had been bushwalking, mountain bike riding and swimming with family and friends.

About 2.30pm (Saturday 30 October 2021), the boy was climbing up a track when he fell approximately 20-30 meters from the cliff face onto the base below.

Emergency services were notified, and a multi-agency response commenced, including officers from Lake Illawarra Police District, Police Rescue, NSW Ambulance, NSW SES and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Services.

The boy was treated at the scene for serious head and body injuries.

He was then winched from the location and airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a critical condition.

Police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
