A new group of Sunraysia farmers will soon join the latest batch of recruits to the Andrews Labor Government’s Young Farmers Business Bootcamp program, giving young farmers an opportunity to innovate and build on their business skills.
Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes today announced that Agriculture Victoria will run two two-day agribusiness skills courses in August and September at SuniTAFE’s Cardross SMART farm campus.
The courses have been well attended across other parts of the state, with young horticulturalists in the Mallee now being invited to come forward and build on their skills.
This bootcamp will focus on upskilling young growers and those new to managing a horticulture business in the Sunraysia area.
The business side of the workshop will make sure participants walk away with cash-flow budgeting skills, a strong understanding of risk management and planning skills to fine-tune their business goals.
The bootcamp will be delivered by Gavin Beever, principal consultant with Cumbre Consultants, and hosted by Agriculture Victoria with support from LaunchVic, Mildura Regional Partnership, SuniTAFE and Northern Mallee Leaders.
Agriculture Victoria is further supporting the next generation of young farmers through initiatives such as stamp duty exemptions, the Young Farmer Scholarship Program, the Young Farmer Advisory Council and the Young Farmer Business Network website.
The Mallee bootcamp will run on Tuesday, 27 August and Tuesday, 17 September. Find out more at agriculture.vic.gov.au.
