  • ‘Building Tomorrow: Have Your Say’ workshops will be held across the State, and will seek a wide range of perspectives from young people
  • New Youth Action Plan will support young people aged 10 to 25

Youth Minister Simone McGurk is inviting young people to have their say on the development of WA’s new Youth Action Plan.

Consultation workshops will be held across the State during the coming months and will seek the views of young people with diverse experiences.

‘Building Tomorrow: Have Your Say’ workshops will be convened at schools and public spaces such as skate parks. More formal community forums will also be held.

The development of the YAP will set out the actions the Cook Government will take to achieve improved outcomes for young people over the next three years.

Sixteen consultation workshops will take place in metro and regional areas including Broome, Albany, Bunbury, Pilbara, and Kalgoorlie.

Young people will be asked for their views on issues such as mental health, climate change, and how they can best be supported to reach their full potential.

As stated by Youth Minister Simone McGurk:

“Young people make up almost 20 per cent of WA’s population, so it is important that they are given the opportunity to have their say about what they want and need to achieve their goals, now and into the future.

“I encourage young Western Australians from all corners of the State to provide their input so that their voices are heard in the development of the new plan.

“The Cook Government is committed to taking action to improve outcomes for all young West Australians so they can reach their full potential.”
