Young rider arrested for speeding, South Australia

A teenager rider was arrested after travelling at high speed from Port Adelaide to Kapunda last night.

About 9.45pm on Tuesday 18 January, a patrol spotted a motorcycle travelling at 120 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on the Grand Trunkway at Port Adelaide.

PolAir was called in to track the motorcycle as it travelled north. The rider was seen losing control and dropping the bike near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and South Terrace, Kapunda.

While he struggled with the bike, police moved in and arrested him.

The 16-year-old boy from Albert Park was charged with speed dangerous, ride without due care, breach the conditions of his learner’s permit and ride without number plates properly attached.

His motorcycle was impounded for 28 days and he was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Youth Court on 10 March.
